Manali is located in the foothills of Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal Ranges in the North Western Himalayas, given its location the region has abundance of hiking and trekking trails in its vicinity. Most of these high altitude meadows and trails were once used by the Gaddi Community of the region for their livestock, however as the times progressed the communities ventured into different lines of work, still the Gaddi Communities venture into these areas every summer with their sheep & horses and stay on these meadows for the summer months, one such trail is Hampta Circle.

Hampta Circle is a lesser known trek which offers trekkers and nature lovers with some breathtaking Views. It’s an easy to moderate trek which begins from Jagatsukh and ends at Jobri Village. It takes you above the tree line and offers some brilliant views of Kullu Valley, Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges, famous peaks like Friendship Peak, Chhetidhar and Hanuman Tibba can be seen during the trek, the area is full of Flora and Fauna and if you are lucky you might be able to spot some wildlife native to the area which includes, Barking Deer’s, Blue Sheep’s, Black and Brown Bears and Leopards. The trek is relatively simple and can easily done from early summers till early winters.

Day 01: Arrival in Manali and Drive to Jagatsukh, Trek to Baggi

Travel Duration Drive 1 Hour, Trek 3 – 4 Hours
Altitude 2400 Meters
We assemble in Manali, where our jeep will be waiting to take us to Jagatsukh. It’s about an hour-long drive and we reach Jagatsukh, from here we start our trek to Baggi, which is an open meadow just above the forest. The trek winds up through a dense forest comprising of Pine, Cedar, Walnuts, Chestnuts and Maple trees. The campsite is located on a meadow near a stream, the views are spectacular one can see the Kullu Valley on one side and Manali town and Pir Panjal on the other side. After Dinner, overnight in the camps.

Day 02: Trek from Baggi to Srabaggi

Trek Duration 3 to 4 Hours
Altitude 2850 Meters
After Breakfast, we head for the second camp site, Today’s trek in a gradual ascent along with a river crossing. The trek leads further up the mountains as the summer months start we come across Shepherds who are taking their livestock for grazing up on the mountains. Upon reaching the campsite we will have some hot tea and enjoy the sweeping view of the mountains in front of us. After Dinner, Overnight at Campsite.

Day 03: Srabaggi to Jogi Dugh

Trek Duration Trek 4 to 5 Hours
Altitude 4200 Meters
We start early today as today by far will be the hardest day of the trek, we will climb till 4200 Meters the highest point of trek this may involve trekking on Snow as well. We will have our lunches packed and trek towards the snow point. After about 5 to 6 hours of trek we descend to our next campsite Jogi Dugh, after dinner overnight in camps.

Day 04: Jogi Dugh to Jobri and Drive to Manali

Trek Duration 3 to 4 Hours
After having breakfast, we start our descend towards Jobri Dam, where our vehicles will be waiting to pick us up. Last day of trek descends from meadows to forest and latter we reach Jobri, we can sit back if you wish you can have a cup of tea at a tea stall at Jobri. Latter we drive down from Jobri to Manali. Trip ends with drop in Manali
